قال الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب يوم السبت إن المجال الجوي فوق وحول فنزويلا “مغلق بالكامل”، في خطوة تعكس تصعيدًا جديدًا في التوتر بين واشنطن وكراكاس.
ونشر ترامب بيانه عبر منصته الاجتماعية “تروث سوشيال”، قائلاً:

تأتي تصريحات ترامب بعد أيام من تحذير إدارة الطيران الفيدرالية الأميركية (FAA) شركات الطيران من مخاطر “متزايدة” للطيران فوق الأراضي الفنزويلية، مشيرة إلى وجود “نشاط عسكري متصاعد” وتدهور في الوضع الأمني داخل البلاد.
وبحسب التقارير، ألغت فنزويلا تراخيص التشغيل لست شركات طيران دولية كانت قد علّقت رحلاتها إلى البلاد، استجابة للتحذيرات الأميركية.
